about

Plastic Gun was meant as an homage to my teenage self. I remember me walking along the streets in the middle of the night towards a lover but every time I got closer, I freaked out and walked back home. Still to this point I can get panic attacks when there are too many people around. I start to feel unwanted and just have to get out. I think now I can manage it better and avoid certain situations, but as a young dude this was incredibly frustrating.

Musically we started to write a lot of songs with bass and drums as a starting point. What’s great about that is that you don’t get stuck in this chord progession like you do when you write on a guitar or piano. There are just these single notes floating around and giving you a lot of possibilites to fill in the actual chords at a later stage. We ended really digging that. Just get drum and bass-train going and figure out the chords later.

lyrics

staring down the boulevard
i’m young and restless
and filled with love

strolling through your cul-de-sac
i thought i had it
but now i'm lost

the sidewalk lighting up my path
i love the silence
but now i’m stuck
i love the silence
but now i’m stuck

usually I have the faith
and a plastic gun
lurking in the dead of night
like an alien
i can’t believe i lost it all
for your bitter love
keep telling me i’m restless
keep telling me i’m restless
restless

staring at you from afar
i’m young and restless
and filled with lust

luckily we’re far apart
‘cause boy i’m selfish
and all is lost
oh boy I’m selfish
and all is lost

usually I have the faith
and a plastic gun
lurking in the dead of night
like an alien
i can’t believe i lost it all
for your bitter love
keep telling me i’m restless
keep telling me i’m restless
restless

usually I have the faith
and a plastic gun
lurking in the dead of night
like an alien
i can’t believe i lost it all
for your bitter love
keep telling me i’m restless
keep telling me i’m restless
restless

Klangstof Amsterdam, Netherlands

In the aftermath of recording their (still officially unannounced) third album, Amsterdam alternative formation Klangstof (Koen van de Wardt, Wannes Salomé, and Erik Buschmann) weathered an inspiring but emotionally-taxing storm, recording their most open-hearted, sonically ambitious material yet. This became Ocean View a four-song release that offers a candid glimpse of the band’s wavelength. ... more
