about

Death04 had been around ever since we were working on the last album. I had an alter ego called “deathmetalmotherfucker” where I tried to let go of making Klangstof songs. At that time I really needed to free myself from our sound. All the “death”-songs were just me on an acoustic guitar and stripping things down. When we were going through our old demos we all thought this song might be the perfect opener of the album. It had a story that made sense and it felt very much like a tune written for the state we were in as a band at that time. Just trying to dig very deep into what we are and also being a lot more personal than on previous records.

lyrics

i’m a hero on a losing streak
trying to catch you in your only dream
your presence is killing my mind
and your help is never helping me

but it’s alright
it’s alright
i don’t need you in my life

who shot the devil
who locked me in
i want to find myself in the eye of the storm
i want to find myself in the eye of the storm

i’m observing all your evil tricks
i am faithful to this mess i’m in
your presence is killing my mind
and your help is never saving me

but that’s alright
it’s alright
i don’t need this in my life
i don’t need you in my life

who shot the devil
who locked me in
i want to find myself in the eye of your storm
i want to find myself in the eye of your storm

shoot the devil
shoot the devil
he’s been playing games
inside my brain

shoot the devil
shoot the devil
i will hunt him down
into the fucking grave

about

Klangstof Amsterdam, Netherlands

In the aftermath of recording their (still officially unannounced) third album, Amsterdam alternative formation Klangstof (Koen van de Wardt, Wannes Salomé, and Erik Buschmann) weathered an inspiring but emotionally-taxing storm, recording their most open-hearted, sonically ambitious material yet. This became Ocean View a four-song release that offers a candid glimpse of the band’s wavelength. ... more
